The best iPhone Duo cases and accessories (2026)

The best cases for Apple's foldable iPhone Duo, from $30 clear cases to rugged and leather picks, plus the chargers, screen protectors and add-ons worth buying.

If you’ve just spent $1,999 on an iPhone Duo, a case isn’t optional. Apple’s first foldable has two screens, a hinge and a lot of glass, and repairing the inner screen out of warranty costs $999. But foldable cases are different from normal iPhone cases, and the wrong one can be fiddly, bulky or barely protective.

We’ve picked the best cases for every budget and style, plus the chargers, screen protectors and add-ons that are actually worth buying. Prices are US prices at the time of writing.

We haven’t tested these ourselves. Our picks are based on manufacturers’ specs, hands-on reviews and early buyer feedback, and we’ve flagged the catches.

Before you buy: how foldable cases work

The iPhone Duo is effectively two phone halves joined by a hinge, so almost every case comes in two pieces: one clips onto the back half, the other onto the front half around the outer screen. That leads to three choices:

  • Hinge cover or open hinge? A hinge cover protects the spine if you drop the phone, but adds bulk and can make the fold feel stiffer. An open hinge keeps the Duo slim and folding freely, but leaves the hinge exposed. Neither stops pocket dust getting into the hinge.
  • Adhesive or clip-on? Many two-piece cases, including Apple’s own, use thin adhesive strips to stay put on the front half. That works well, but the adhesive weakens if you take the case off, so pick one you’ll keep.
  • Magnets. The Duo supports MagSafe and Qi2 charging at up to 25W. All our picks have magnets built in, so MagSafe chargers and accessories still snap on.

Best overall: Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro (Mag Fit)

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro clear case on the back of an iPhone Duo, with a white MagSafe ring
Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro (Mag Fit) · Image: Spigen

Spigen’s clear case is the best all-rounder: slim, inexpensive and properly protective. Its trick is a spring-loaded, semi-automatic hinge cover that fully encloses the hinge when the phone is closed. Steel pins lock the two halves of the case together, the corners have air cushions, and raised edges protect both screens and the camera. Strong N52 magnets keep MagSafe accessories firmly attached, and the clear polycarbonate is treated to resist yellowing.

Price: $39.99 on Amazon in Clear White (also in Frost Black), well below Spigen’s own $59.99. It’s also on Amazon India for about ₹3,470. Early Duo owners rate it 4.3 stars, though from only a dozen ratings so far. Spigen doesn’t publish a drop rating.

Best budget: ESR Classic Hybrid Magnetic Case

ESR Classic Hybrid Magnetic Case · Image: ESR

At $29.99, ESR’s case does almost everything the Spigen does for less. You get a full magnetic hinge guard, a clear back with a black TPU frame, strong magnets that support Qi2 charging at 25W, and raised edges around the screens and camera. ESR rates it for drops of up to 3.6 feet (about 1.1 m), which is enough for everyday knocks if not for falls from head height. It’s the one to get if you want solid protection without spending much.

Best rugged: OtterBox Defender Series Pro XT

OtterBox Defender Series Pro XT · Image: OtterBox

If you’re hard on your phones, this is the case. OtterBox rates the Defender Pro XT to four times the US military drop-test standard, and its rugged articulating hinge covers the spine yet still lets the Duo lie flat when open. It has port covers to keep out dust and lint, and magnets for MagSafe.

The trade-off is size: it’s 14.7 mm thick and adds 74 g, on a phone that already weighs 254 g. Price: $89.99, sold by Amazon (stock has been patchy at launch). If that’s too much, OtterBox’s slimmer Lumen ($69.99) is lighter, but has an open hinge and a lower drop rating.

Best with a kickstand: ESR Cyber Tough with Flex Stand

ESR Cyber Tough with Flex Stand · Image: ESR

A kickstand makes a lot of sense on a phone with an iPad-mini-sized inner screen, and this is the best one we’ve found. The Flex Stand rotates 270° for portrait or landscape, folds flat when you don’t need it, and doubles as a raised guard around the camera. The case itself is properly tough: two layers, a reinforced hinge cover and a 16-foot (4.9 m) drop rating from ESR.

Price: $45.99 direct from ESR. Amazon listings have shown higher prices from some sellers, so compare before you buy.

Best slim: Mous Ultra Thin (Aramid Fibre)

Mous Ultra Thin aramid fibre case on an unfolded iPhone Duo

If you bought the Duo for how it feels in the hand, a bulky case defeats the point. Mous’s aramid-fibre case (the same material used in body armour) adds almost nothing: two thin shells with a carbon-fibre look and MagSafe magnets. It doesn’t cover the hinge, and Mous itself says it isn’t designed for high-impact drops, so think of it as scratch protection with style. Price: $84.99.

Best leather: Nomad Traditional Leather Folio

Nomad Traditional Leather Folio · Image: Nomad

For a luxury phone, a luxury case. Nomad’s folio wraps the Duo in Horween leather that covers the hinge and ages beautifully, with a magnetic flap over the outer screen, a microfibre lining, card storage and MagSafe support. It’s the smartest-looking case here. Price: $129, direct from Nomad only (not on Amazon); Nomad has been taking pre-orders, with shipping from mid-November.

Best from Apple: iPhone Duo Case

Apple’s own case is a thin, two-part polycarbonate shell with a matte finish and built-in magnets, in Navy or Sand. It fits perfectly and feels premium, but it’s the least protective case here: reviewers found it attaches with adhesive strips, and it leaves the hinge uncovered and offers little protection when the phone is open. Price: $79 (also coming to Amazon India). Buy it for the looks and the fit, not for drop protection.

Apple also sells a Folio with Kickstand ($129) in a woven fabric. It attaches magnetically, with no adhesive, and its flap covers the outer screen, but reviewers disagree on how well it protects the sides.

The best iPhone Duo accessories

A case is the essential buy, but a few accessories make a real difference on a foldable. Here’s what’s worth adding.

Fast charger: Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter (or Anker 735)

The Duo doesn’t come with a charger, and its fastest speeds need a powerful one: Apple quotes 50% in about 20 minutes with a 60W USB-C adapter. Apple’s own 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max ($39) is the one Apple used for that test. It’s small, and it boosts to 60W in short bursts before settling at 40W, which is exactly what a phone needs. Use a USB-C cable rated for 60W, or you won’t get the full speed.

The Anker 735 (Nano II 65W) ($29.99) is the cheaper alternative with more flexibility: up to 65W from a single USB-C port, plus two more ports for a laptop or earbuds (the power is shared when you plug in more than one). It’s rated 4.7 stars from more than 22,000 Amazon reviews, though Apple hasn’t tested it with the Duo.

Wireless charging: Apple MagSafe Charger or Belkin UltraCharge stand

The Duo charges wirelessly at up to 25W with MagSafe or Qi2 chargers that support that speed; ordinary “magnetic” or older Qi2 pads top out at 15W or less. Apple’s MagSafe Charger ($39 for 1 m, $49 for 2 m) lists the Duo as compatible and takes it to 50% in about 30 minutes, as long as you plug it into an adapter of 35W or more (the 40W adapter above is ideal).

For your desk or bedside, the Belkin UltraCharge 2-in-1 Foldable Magnetic Charger ($59.99) is a Qi2 25W stand that tilts up to 65° for portrait or landscape, folds flat for travel, and comes with a 45W adapter in the box. Its Amazon listing names the Duo as compatible, though Belkin’s own site doesn’t list it yet.

Power bank: Baseus PicoGo AM52

Baseus PicoGo AM52 magnetic power bank with built-in USB-C cable

Two big screens use a lot of battery, so a magnetic power bank is handy on long days. The Baseus PicoGo AM52 is one of the few that charges wirelessly at the full 25W (it’s Qi2.2 certified). It has a 10,000mAh battery and a built-in USB-C cable for 45W wired charging, and Macworld gave it an Editors’ Choice award. It’s about $56 on sale at Baseus.

Two caveats: it weighs about 200 g, which adds roughly 80% to the phone’s weight while it’s attached, and no one has yet confirmed how well it lines up on the Duo’s shorter back. The “made for Duo” power banks we’ve seen so far only charge at 15W.

Screen and lens protectors: ZAGG Glass Elite and ESR Armorite

The outer screen is the one that takes the knocks, and a glass protector is a cheap way to protect it. The ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Elite for iPhone Duo ($39.99, often less on Amazon) is cut for the Duo’s outer display and comes with ZAGG’s lifetime replacement guarantee. For two protectors and a foolproof alignment tray, the Spigen GLAS.tR EZ Fit Pro ($34.99 for two) is a good alternative.

ESR’s Armorite camera lens protectors ($11.99) are individual rings that fit over each lens. They’re optional, since Apple already covers the lenses with sapphire crystal, but cheap insurance if your case doesn’t have a raised lip around the camera.

Remember: nothing goes on the inner folding screen (see our tips below).

Wallet and stand: MOFT Snap Fold

Most MagSafe wallets, including Apple’s, are designed for taller iPhones and hang off the bottom of the folded Duo; Apple doesn’t list its FineWoven Wallet as Duo-compatible. MOFT’s Snap Fold is made specifically for the Duo: a magnetic wallet that holds up to five cards and folds out into a stand. It’s $49.99, direct from MOFT on pre-order, with shipping expected in mid-December.

For work: Apple Pencil and a USB-C display adapter

Apple Pencil (USB-C) in white Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

The Duo’s inner screen is almost iPad mini-sized, and Apple lists the Apple Pencil (USB-C) ($79) as compatible. Support arrives with the iOS 27.2 update, expected within days of the Duo’s launch. Only the USB-C Pencil works, and there’s no hover.

To use the Duo with a TV or monitor, Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter ($69) adds an HDMI port, a USB-A port and pass-through charging. Monitors with a USB-C DisplayPort input can connect directly with the right cable.

Prices in India

Several of these are on Amazon India: the Apple 40W adapter (about ₹4,490), MagSafe Charger (about ₹4,299), Spigen GLAS.tR EZ Fit Pro (about ₹1,325), ESR lens protector (about ₹999), Apple Pencil (USB-C) (about ₹7,349) and the AV adapter (about ₹6,900). The Belkin stand is listed at a steep ₹13,600 or so, so look for alternatives with Qi2 25W certification.

Tips for protecting your iPhone Duo

  • Never peel off the inner screen’s top layer. The folding screen has a factory-fitted protective layer with a nano-texture finish. It looks like a screen protector, but it isn’t meant to come off: one owner who peeled it was left with a glossy, wrinkled screen. Apple can replace it for $19 with AppleCare+ or $49 without, according to reviews.
  • Don’t put a third-party protector on the inner screen. Reviewers recommend against it; a case that covers the hinge does more to protect the folding screen. Protectors on the outer screen are fine.
  • Keep Touch ID in mind. The Duo unlocks with a fingerprint sensor in the side button. Choose a case with an open cutout around the button rather than a covered one, and if reads become unreliable after fitting a case, try re-registering your fingerprint.
  • Expect MagSafe wallets to overhang. The Duo is shorter than a normal iPhone when folded, so most wallets and some power banks hang off the bottom edge. Chargers and stands work fine; for a wallet, get one made for the Duo, like the MOFT Snap Fold.
  • Consider AppleCare+. Even with a good case, an inner-screen repair costs $999 without it.

The bottom line

For most people, the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro is the case to buy: it covers the hinge, keeps the Duo slim and costs $40. Save $10 with the ESR Classic Hybrid, go rugged with the OtterBox Defender Pro XT, or treat yourself to the Nomad leather folio. Whatever you choose, leave the inner screen’s protective layer alone.
