Editorial policy

GeekyGoo exists to help you choose tech quickly and buy once. This page explains how our articles are made, so you can judge how much weight to give them.

Two kinds of articles

  • Research guides. Most of our buying guides and launch coverage are built from the maker's own specifications and support pages, independent reviews and lab measurements from established outlets, and feedback from verified buyers. When we haven't used a product ourselves, the article says so near the top.
  • Hands-on reviews. When we've used a product ourselves, the review says so and explains how: for how long, on what, and what we measured. Photos in a hands-on review are our own unless credited otherwise.

Sources and fact-checking

Every article ends with a Sources list linking to what we relied on. We check specs and prices against the maker's or retailer's own pages when we publish, prefer primary sources such as press releases and support documents over second-hand reports, and say when sources disagree. Product images are official press images from the maker unless credited otherwise.

Independence

  • Some links are affiliate links, including to Amazon. They never decide what we recommend, and articles that contain them carry a disclosure.
  • Brands can't pay to appear in our buying guides or to change a verdict.
  • Any sponsored article is clearly labelled as sponsored.
  • If a company lends or gives us a product to review, the review says so.

Our own products

GeekyGoo is published by Image Devices, which also makes the AirLan file-sharing app and runs KiddiesTV. Any article that mentions our own products says so clearly at the top, and we still point readers to alternatives that may suit them better.

Updates and corrections

Tech changes fast. We update guides when new models launch, prices move or a product is discontinued, and each article shows when it was last updated. If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly. To report a mistake, email geekygoo@imagedevices.com.

Who's responsible
